COVID-19 brought adversities from which many people could not recover. Everybody took precautions to save themselves from the virus. And many small businesses could not sustain themselves. Because there imposed a compulsory lockdown on the entire world. Some went bankrupt, and some shut down forever. However, it looks like the NFL GOAT Tom Brady benefitted from the pandemic period. How? The U.S. Small Business Administration released data. It showed the star quarterback received a loan of $960,855 from the Paycheck Protection Program. And why did this news enrage many?

Well, to start off, Tampa Tom is one of the highest-earning quarterbacks in the league. According to Forbes, he takes away a whopping $75 million. The amount adds up to his wealth of $489 million. The seven-time Super Bowl-winning QB makes his money from lucrative deals off-field. He signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers valued at $15 million in 2022.

Many could not understand why the PPP endowed almost $1 million dollars to one of the highest-earning athletes in the world. But could not help the ventures that were going out of business.

PPP gave Tom Brady’s sports performance and wellness company, TB12 a loan. The QB received the amount of $960,855 on April 15, 2020. The Cambridge Savings Bank processed the loan under the CARES Act. No reports show the effect of the pandemic on the company. Neither how many jobs the loan could keep are not out. Although the company was eligible for the approval of the loan, there’s no way to show if it qualifies as an ‘essential’ business.

TB12, the company Tom Brady established with his body coach, Alex Guerrero, in 2013 when he was the New England Patriots QB. TB12 Inc. received the loan for eighty jobs. They were written off. And now, news surfaced that the entire loan was forgiven. Later, things got a little heated, if that was not enough to raise questions.

TMZ reported in 2020 that the MVP-winning QB purchased a shiny, multi-million dollar boat. It was delivered to him in St. Petersburg, Florida. Named after his beloved wife, Gisele’s environmental work, ‘Viva a Vida.’ The news came out right after the PPP load information. That was a bad look for the GOAT.
