Griner’s WNBA coach Vanessa Nygaard said, “The coverage of women’s sports and the coverage of women athletes is the concern here. I mean the question is, would Tom Brady be home? But, Tom Brady wouldn’t be there, right?” Nygaard asked. Because he doesn’t have to go to a foreign country to supplement his income from the WNBA.”
Nygaard compared Griner to Brady, as they both are top names in their respective leagues. She thinks the WNBA doesn’t get much coverage when compared to the big leagues such as NFL and the NBA. Tom Brady is one of the most celebrated athletes in America. If he would have faced a similar situation, would he have been stuck in Russia too?
