Ever since the Super Bowl game, the Philadelphia Eagles and the eventual victors, Kansas City Chiefs have developed some sort of animosity. A controversial holding call allowed the Chiefs to take the win over the Eagles, raising a lot of eyebrows. Criticism and outrage around the call took over the NFL Twitter as a number of celebrities and fans expressed their take on the situation. It gave rise to several Twitter banters, one of which was between the Chiefs’ WR Smith Schuster and the Eagles’ WR A J Brown. But what made Patrick Mahomes intervene between them?
Days after the Super Bowl, many of the Eagles players still seem to be holding grudges and have resorted to taking constant jabs at the Kansas players. A similar Twitter confrontation between Juju Smith Schuster of the Chiefs and Eagles’ AJ Brown forced the reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes to chime in as well.

It is safe to assume that despite all of the shots fired toward the Chiefs, this particular spat was initiated by Juju Smith Schuster. In light of the holding call on Philadelphia cornerback James Bradberry for pulling on Smith-Schuster’s jersey during the play, Schuster took a cheap shot at Bradberry.

This not-so-cryptic message ended up offending a lot of the Eagles players and they came forward to defend their teammate.
A J Brown in particular took the disrespect to a whole another level by replying to Schuster, “First off congratulations. Y’all deserve it. This is lame. You was on the way out of the league before Mahomes resurrected your career on your 1-year deal Tik-Tok boy. He admitted that he grabbed you but don’t act like your like that or ever was. But congratulations again!”

Even though the constant back and forth between these fierce competitors, has been thoroughly entertaining to watch, it just adds fuel to the Twitter narratives. Allowing trolls to take jabs at both sides.
A rivalry for the ages
It is quite clear that the Eagles and the Chiefs clearly have developed a sense of dislike for each other, but it could work out for the best. Rivalries are the most fun thing to watch in the NFL, and this could potentially be the start of another one.

From a pure fan perspective, one would certainly hope that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs meet again in a high-intensity environment, and get to settle their grips out on the field.
