The world of professional football is bursting with stories of resilience, hard work, and dedication. However, it is also a world where athletes face physical and emotional challenges that often go unnoticed. NFL veteran Josh Dobbs is someone who faces such challenges. He suffers from alopecia areata, a disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. The same condition which Jada Pinkett Smith has.
Dobbs has played as a QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Tennessee Titans. He has been diagnosed with Alopecia areata since he was just a 10-year old. The condition, which causes hair loss in patches, can be emotionally distressing for those who suffer from it. In Dobbs’ case, he has been battling it for years. While Dobbs’ story may not have the same level of drama as the “slapgate” incident, it does raise awareness about Alopecia areata.

What makes Dobbs’ story even more significant is that he is not the only public figure suffering from Alopecia areata. In 2018, actress Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she too has the condition. Unfortunately, Pinkett Smith’s revelation was marred by an incident that occurred at the Oscars. The ever-infamous Oscars incident is still fresh for many, especially after the release of comedian Chris Rock’s latest standup special.

During the ceremony last year, host Chris Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s appearance. Her appearance was affected by her medical condition at the time, which Rock was apparently not aware of. The joke was met with laughter from the audience, but Pinkett Smith was visibly upset. And then, bang. The moment that everyone remembers. Will Smith climbing the stage and slapping Chris Rock in front of national television, live at the Oscars.

Even though it’s been nearly a year since the infamous slap, Chris Rock certainly hasn’t forgotten it. And neither has the internet. Known NFL Insider Dov Kleiman tweeted about Josh Dobb’s condition a few months back. But the cherry on top was Kleiman’s reply to a tweet.
if only chris rock said that at the time.

Rock’s latest special on Netflix certainly didn’t disappoint fans. He went deep into the depths of last year’s controversy, constantly flaming both Jada and Will Smith. Some people might believe in forgiveness, but by the looks of it, Rock certainly doesn’t have any interest in letting the controversy die anytime soon.
