Ever since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 13 of the last regular season, it’s been nothing less of a rollercoaster ride for rookie Brock Purdy. Mr. Irrelevant turned relevant in no time, having an absolute dream start to his NFL career. However, his elbow injury derailed all championship plans. And Purdy recently gave fans a glimpse of the arm after the surgery.
Let’s just say that the medical procedures for high-level athletes these days look futuristic and nothing short of what fans could expect to see in a Terminator movie. And the Niners quarterback flashed his cyborg gear when he posed with a fan at an unknown brewery.

No one expected Brock Purdy to take the Niners on a 7-0 run and contend for the NFC Championship title after Jimmy G broke his foot. And Purdy could have even made the Super Bowl within his first 10 games in the NFL, had it not been for a devastating UCL tear in his elbow during the 31-7 blowout loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Mike Garafolo’s reports from a few weeks ago, the last pick from the 2022 NFL draft “underwent successful surgery on his elbow. It was the anticipated UCL repair with an internal brace.” Despite the normal recovery time for a UCL tear being around six months, NFL Network Insider Garafolo gives it three months before the Niner is allowed to throw again and build on his arm strength from there.

It was the ‘internal brace’ that caused a lot of heads to turn as Purdy took a photo with a fan known as @40CalKing on Twitter.

The braces could have been off by now as Purdy’s surgery was initially scheduled for much earlier. However, MLB-side Texas Ranger surgeon Dr. Keith Meister delayed it until this month because of some added inflammation. Either way, the post-surgery recovery seems to be going quite well for the signal-caller.
Thanks my friend for posting the picture! Brock looks good & we pray he is ready for the first regular season game in September!

However, with the surgery taking place in March, and given the usual recovery period, it is unsure if Purdy will be available for the 49ers’ off-season workouts and training or the pre-season in August.

The Niners have clearly made their stance on Purdy clear. They want Mr. Relevant in the pocket, despite going all-out and getting Trey Lance two years ago. The franchise has also sent Jimmy G to the Las Vegas Raiders to remove any doubt about who the next Bay Area quarterback is.
