NFL franchise Seattle Seahawks were strategically aware during trade talks involving quarterback Russell Wilson. The franchise knows the desperate need for a QB that their NFC rivals Washington Commanders currently are in. Despite getting as many as three first-round picks for Wilson, the Seahawks just weren’t willing to sign their warrant.

While the Commanders were doing everything to sign a QB, the Seahawks accepted a massive offer from the Denver Broncos in the AFC West Division. The newly renamed franchise did finish second in their luring attempts despite coach Ron Rivera’s relentless pursuit.
The massive trade would see Seahawks sending their fourth-round pick and QB Russell Wilson for two future firsts, two future seconds, and a fifth-round picks with 3 Broncos players.
It was a nightmare situation for the Commanders who continue their search for a QB. The future Broncos QB Wilson always considered Denver his first preference as a team he would like to join. It seems like Washington never had a chance. Some reports suggest the trade to Washington was already turned down last week before Denver came calling for Russell.
Russell Wilson makes Broncos challenging in the AFC
While both franchises in Denver and Washington respectively were identical before the trade, it seems the dynamic has shifted in opposite directions for both franchises. Wilson brings with him experiences of winning the Super Bowl and leadership which is a rare combination. Denver has a lot of young talented players in both their defense and their offense. The latter has now seemed to have upgraded significantly with Wilson’s addition.
On the other hand, Washington has possibly hit a new low and will need to test other opportunities in the free agency market. They also had a set and ready young roster and looking for a talented QB.

But it seems the wait has only elongated for the franchise and might have to look elsewhere.

The move also indicates a willingness from Wilson to perform and deliver at the highest level in one of the toughest divisions in the AFC conference. He seems up for the challenge of facing teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and the Los Angeles Chargers in the upcoming 2022 NFL season. Washington fans, especially in Wilson’s hometown Virginia, will be disappointed at not being able to see Russell Wilson in the Burgundy and Gold jersey.
