The glitzy lifestyle that accompanies their fame is not cheap by any means. Despite looking the part, Chad Johnson dropped some revelations that point in the opposite direction of unnecessary spending. The Bengals star made an appearance on Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe’s podcast.

Speaking on ‘Club Shay Shay’ he said, “I never brought real anything when I was playing. Never. What was the point? I went to Claire’s. For what? What am I doing it for?” To emphasize his point the former WR rhetorically added, “Why am I buying a $50,000 watch, $80,000 dollar watch?” The six-time Pro Bowler revealed that putting focus on material goods is unnecessary.
Johnson is of the belief that an increase in income results in increased spending- unless one is is disciplined to curb the habit. Over the span of his career the Bengals star reportedly amassed almost $49 million. Johnson estimates that he’s saved 83% of his salary, which is quite admirable. From the looks of it, the NFL world is in agreement with the former receiver’s insights.

In his monologue, Johnson also revealed that he never indulged in flying private. This fan is on board with with everything that the WR said but can’t come to terms with his airline of choice.
