The quarterback competition is in full swing as the NFL regular season draws near. But the athletes have a tough task ahead and can make wise decisions; Especially Sammy Watkins, who had the honor of working with Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. He bravely went with the best option, even though the Chiefs Kingdom would bury him for it.

Veteran receiver Randall Cobb questioned Watkins about the superior quarterback between Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes at the opening of Green Bay’s training camp. The WR claims that while Mahomes is fantastic, Rodgers is in a class by himself.

In an interview, Analyst Larry McCarren credited Watkins while mentioning the quote, “I think Pat is incredibly good, but A-Rod is on a whole other level.” The WR then adds, “He [Rodgers] is amazing. How he controls the ball, how he puts everybody in place. I’ve been with a lot of quarterbacks. I’ve never seen them carry themselves like Aaron Rodgers.”

Sammy Watkins’ claims may develop into a new QB war between Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. A-Rod won the MVP award four times, made the Pro Bowl ten times, and won one championship. The 38-year-old is still running. However, Mahomes, 26, has as many showdowns wins as Rodgers, along with his MVP and four Pro Bowl selections.

One similarity that both QBs have is that they lost their no. 1 WRs during the offseason via trade. As they look to bounce back without their top receivers, the challenge is on between a Youngblood and a veteran. Even though Watkins is giving Rodgers the winner’s edge, Mahomes’ accomplishments are undeniable.

After Sammy Watkins laid the praise, his predeceasing WR, Raiders’ Davante Adams, also echoed his praise for Aaron Rodgers. During the ‘Pivot’ Podcast crew’s visit to the Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center, Adams sat down with the hosts and praised Rodgers. The Raiders’ new pass catcher thinks Rodgers continues to be the NFL’s top quarterback. He also acknowledges A-Rod’s “Michael Jordan effect” that propelled Green Bay.

Adams mentioned, “He’s the best quarterback, in my opinion, to play this game,” Adams said of his former teammate. “He had the Michael Jordan effect… (He’s) gonna make you play better… just by being on the field.” It clearly shows that the Raiders WR still has a lot of respect for his former athlete at Green Bay and that Rodgers will be a tough nut to crack on the field.
