He discussed the best QB in the NFL. He mentioned Ravens QB Jackson as the most skilled QB in the league. However, he also had certain reservations about him.

What reservations did Acho have about Jackson?

Acho picked Jackson as the most talented QB ahead of Brady, Rodgers, or Mahomes. He said, “He’s [Lamar] the most talented QB in the NFL based off talent alone.” But he was skeptical about how the sheer talent was reflected in the Raven’s QB’s performances on the field.

Regarding Lamar’s win percentage over the course of his career, Acho analyzed, “When you talk about how many wins Lamar Jackson has had in the last two years, you see a slight dip because now Lamar Jackson, though the most talented since he took over as the starting QB, he’s fifth in the NFL.”

He said this figure was for the beginning of his career. Over the last two years, he fell even further down the list to eighth. He regarded this trend as disturbing, given how talented Jackson was. The former LB noted a disconnect between Jackson’s talent and his output. He mentioned, “While Lamar is the most talented QB, I’m reminded of energy.”

As an explanation, the former LB compared Jackson to the concepts of potential and kinetic energy. He said, “I think Lamar Jackson has the highest potential energy beyond the shadow of a doubt, but we just haven’t seen it realized over the last two years.”

Is Lamar Jackson the best QB in the league?

Emmanuel Acho certainly thinks so. He feels Lamar is way ahead of the current competition he has in the league. Regarding the young Ravens QB, he said, “Let’s go back to his MVP season. He led the league in passing touchdowns while simultaneously being sixth in rushing yards… Lamar Jackson was simultaneously a top-six rusher and a top-six passer.”

He claimed that purely based on talent, Lamar beat all his competition. It is especially so, given his dominant 2019 season, when he became the MVP.

Acho’s argument certainly deserves attention. There is no doubt that Jackson is a phenomenal QB, but he hasn’t delivered on his potential so far. Over time, the QB could probably convert his potential energy to kinetic energy, as Acho says, and show the NFL world what he is truly capable of.
