Patrick Mahomes has been one of the most iconic QBs of his time. Both on and off the field, the Kansas City Chiefs QB has been brilliant in the way he approaches the game. Furthermore, with the way he plays, Mahomes has been able to make some serious money through his contract. He was one of the first QB in the league to procure a contract that was worth half a billion dollars. However, while Mahomes is on the one extreme, the other extreme is a free agent who is earning a very measly salary.

NFL players get paid a huge amount of money. For the way they play and the kind of risks they take with their bodies, their pay would even make sense. However, there are some players who don’t get paid fairly in comparison to their contemporaries.
The player in question is Tyrone Swoopes. Swoopes was brought into the NFL by the Seattle Seahawks. They drafted him in 2017 after he went undrafted in all rounds. He was an on-and-off member of the practice squad for the Seahawks. Per AS, the quarterback only got paid $27,353 in 2017.
His overall salary took a jump to $38,000 in 2019. However, since then he has gone on to join the Eagles as a tight end and only ended up making $18,000 in 2020. In contrast, Mahomes has one of the biggest contracts the NFL has ever seen.

The hefty salary of Patrick Mahomes
In 2020, Mahomes went on to sign a historic contract $500 million extension with Kansas City Chiefs. He signed a 10-year half a billion dollar deal with $477 million in guarantees and an interesting no-trade clause. This came after Mahomes went on to have a stellar season and even won a Super Bowl with them. Apart from this, Mahomes has a multitude of brand endorsements that earn him a hefty sum. he is even an ambassador for a brand like Adidas.
All in all, Mahomes and Swoopes represent two different sides of the NFL. It only remains to be seen if the tide changes for a player like Swoopes in terms of his salary.
