Although the global pandemic took a sharp hit at restricting fans from watching the game, the NFL and its franchises have generated surreal revenue through ticket sales. Surprisingly, the Las Vegas Raiders from the AFC West have secured the top spot leaving behind spearheads like the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. This result comes just a year after the Raiders opened their new home stadium in Nevada.

The Las Vegas Raiders achieved an incredible milestone of building their home field in the form of Allegiant stadium. It was opened for the fans on 31st July, ahead of the 2020 season.

However, the pandemic hampered all its aspirations and had to remain closed for more than 12 months. It turns out the Raiders pulled out a unique strategy to fill in their banks by selling fewer tickets and yet making more money.

According to the sources, the Raiders earned $119 million in net gate revenue from general and club seating last season. The figure does not contain money from luxury suites and is now considered one of the highest in NFL history.

Although the amount makes it look like the Raiders have sold the most number of tickets despite a constrained fanbase, the reality is much different. Surprisingly, the Raiders rank 25th compared to other teams in selling tickets and the reason why they are above all is because of their dynamic pricing strategy.

The franchise was able to generate money from the buzz of fans arriving at Allegiant stadium to attend the games. It is one of the smallest venues in the league, with a seating capacity of only 65,000 fans. However, the Raiders seem to have hoarded some of the single-game tickets, and when the prices of tickets skyrocketed in the market they distributed the left-out passes at expensive rates.

Dallas Cowboys and the Niners are in the top 10

The NFL’s annual box office report conveyed that the San Francisco 49ers were next on the list among the other 32 franchises. The Niners collected a surreal amount of $117 million.

One of the prime reasons behind this achievement is because the Niners had increased their ticket prices by $20 and added extra perks and concessions along with the passes.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys had to settle with a sixth spot below the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Giants. However, as usual, Jerry Jones’ side sold the most number of tickets. They didn’t increase their prices and kept them cheap. Moreover, they can afford to bear losses to a certain extent as they are still NFL’s most valuable team at $6.92 Billion.
