Patrick Mahomes had a mixed bag of a game against the AFC West rivals Denver Broncos in Week 14. Although by the end of the final whistle, the Chiefs came out victorious, Mahomes didn’t look satisfied and admitted to getting lucky against Wilson’s comeback drives.

Normally fans don’t get to see Patrick Mahomes throwing interceptions or getting sacked because of his surreal scrambling abilities. All those plans got foiled by the Broncos’ defense playing phenomenally. Aided by Russell Wilson’s back-to-back touchdowns in the final minutes of the second quarter.
Despite all those setbacks, somehow, Mahomes posted 34 points against 28 and improved their winning streak. After the game, when Mahomes appeared for the press conference, reporters asked him about coach Andy Reid’s advice after conceding three interceptions and minor slips throughout the night.
“Yeah, I mean he tells me to keep throwing it, man, keep swinging it. He doesn’t want me to lose who I am,” Mahomes said. When I go to the sideline, I’m hard and those coaches come to me and they say they understand what I know, but they still let me know what I can get better at.”
“But I just can’t put our team in that situation, and luckily, we got the win. But you don’t win a lot of games when you have three interceptions,” he explained.

Well, to some extent, his assessment seems fair, but losing a game at this point won’t hurt the Chiefs because they are already one of the Super Bowl-contending teams.

After this win, the Chiefs are on the front seat with a season record of 10-3. They have leveled their position along with the Bills in AFC, heading toward the conference title.

Although Mahomes threw for three interceptions, he displayed some of his scrambling magic in the third and fourth quarters. Future Hall of Famer Travis Kelce unlocked an incredible achievement becoming the fastest tight end ever to reach 10,000 career receiving yards.

The offense got a glimpse of rookie Running Back Isiah Pacheco’s blazing skills and a potential replacement along with Jerick McKinnon in the depth chart. Meanwhile, this game showered some light on the Chiefs’ defense that couldn’t stop Wilson’s comeback drives in the second quarter. The Texans are next on the line for Mahomes and Co before they again meet Russell Wilson in Week 17.
