Yesterday, it was a big shock to the Hall of Famer quarterback Peyton Manning to learn about the death of his former teammate Demaryius Thomas. It not only came as a surprise to him but also to the rest of the NFL community. Star players like Tom Brady, Odell Beckham Jr., and Russell Wilson offered their prayers to the deceased soul.

However, amongst them all, Peyton shared a special relationship with the former wide receiver. Since they had a great on-field and off-field relation during their days with the Denver Broncos. They both had won the Super Bowl 50 together in 2015 after defeating the Carolina Panthers in the final.

Thomas, who last played in an NFL game in 2019, had 724 catches for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns in his career. He played with the Broncos for nine and a half seasons before moving on to the Houston Texans in 2018 and the New York Jets in 2019.

Demaryius’s best years in the NFL were with Peyton Manning between 2012 and 2015. During that span, he had two seasons of 100 or more catches, three seasons of 1,400 or more receiving yards, and three seasons of double-digit touchdowns. When he was teamed with Manning, he never had fewer than 90 catches or 1,300 receiving yards.

Although when he decided to retire early in 2021, Peyton Manning came up with a surprise. The former quarterback shared a heartfelt clip to the former receiver, wishing him luck for his next chapter in life.

“DT Peyton here. Congratulations on an incredible NFL career,” Peyton said. “It was all a privilege to play with you, to be your teammate. Always great respect for your toughness, your work ethic, your fearlessness across the middle, your ability to make big catches, your big games, and a player as big as strong and as powerful as you. I wish you all the best in this next chapter.”

Now, since Demaryius has passed away at the age of 33, Peyton Manning most certainly mourns the loss of a great friend. But their memories of playing together for four seasons and winning a Super Bowl in 2015 remain immortal.
