More bad news awaits the Dallas Cowboys following Sunday! The first 19-3 loss to the Bucs felt like the start of a much bigger second loss to come. In the fourth quarter, QB Dak Prescott suffered a joint fracture in his right thumb. The unfortunate incident occurred while Dak was attempting to throw a ball and got hit by the Bucs linebacker Shaq Barret.

Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the very start grabbed the cowboys by the neck. The NFL fans were already excited about the game since it is Tom Brady’s final NFL season.

Though both teams’ defenses were tight throughout the game, the Cowboys failed to get a grip over Brady and the Buccaneers. When Dak left the field, the Cowboys’ last chance to win was also gone. Within a few hours, the injury had progressed from “jammed a finger” to “a significant injury.” The x-ray revealed a fracture, and Dak needed to wear a splint on his right hand.

According to General Manager and owner Jerry Jones, Dak will need surgery to recover his throwing hand. That means he will almost certainly be out for several weeks.

It’s very disappointing, but injuries happen, can’t control it, just unfortunate. Obviously going to miss some time…..But I’ll do what I’ve always done anytime adversity comes, take it on head-first and give my best and I’m sure I’ll come out of this thing better,” Prescott said.

Prior to the injury, Dak could not establish a successive tempo against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, despite coach Mike McCarthy’s plan to use him in the team’s favor.

Cooper Rush will start at quarterback for the Cowboys against the Cincinnati Bengals, as the recovery period appears to last several weeks. Rush previously replaced Prescott against the Minnesota Vikings when he was sidelined with a calf strain. With Dak out for several weeks, the Cowboys’ fortunes are likely to deteriorate in the coming games.
