Patrick Mahomes just won the AFC Championship crown and took his team to the Super Bowl for the third time in four years. However, that still doesn’t impress some NFL veterans and icons. Especially former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Gronk appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ this week and gave his Super Bowl LVII prediction. However, he went hard on the Kansas City Chiefs. And while there is some truth in what the 4x Super Bowl champion said, Mahomes and Kelce have a habit of turning incoming trash-talking to their advantage.

Gronkowski wasn’t really impressed with either team that made it to the Super Bowl this year. Gronk thought that the Philadelphia Eagles had a lucky night against the San Francisco 49ers with the entire no-quarterback situation on Sunday’s NFC Championship game. Or, as Rob called it, a ‘get-out-of-jail-free-card’.

As far as the Chiefs were concerned, Rob Gronkowski thinks they always scrape through. One way or the other. However, the TE finally went with Philly for the Super Bowl champions this year. But Gronk knows the threat of Patrick Mahomes and his offensive missile tight end, Travis Kelce. And Kelce just tied Gronk’s all-time postseason TD number (15) on Sunday.

I played against the Chiefs many times. And the Chiefs? The last Super Bowl they won, I was retired. And now they’re back in the Super Bowl again, and I’ve retired again. But when I wasn’t retired, we beat them every time in the AFC Championship game. Or the Super Bowl. I mean, that’s their formula. I’ve just got to retire,” Gronk said, jokingly undermining the Chiefs.

Gronk may have done the Chiefs a favor with the low blow

Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and the New England Patriots beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship on their way to the 2019 Super Bowl ring. And even though Mahomes and Co brought the Lombardi Trophy to Kansas the next season after a 50-year drought, Brady and Gronk beat Patrick again in 2021 at Super Bowl LV.

However, if Gronk really wanted his Super Bowl prediction to come true, he should have left the salty trash-talk aside.

The Mayor of Cincinnati tried some mean punches, and that didn’t go down too well. “Know your role and shut your mouth,” Travis Kelce told him after the 23-20 win on Sunday. Additionally, the Chiefs shut down all ‘Burrowhead’ chants as well.

Mahomes had 326 passing yards and 2 touchdowns against the Birds. However, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are a more complete side, according to Gronkowski. “Philadelphia has been playing more like a team this season,” the 5x Pro Bowler explained his prediction for the clash at the State Farm Arena in Phoenix on February 12. Do you agree with the TE?
