The Dallas Cowboys are under the spotlight whenever they take the stage. Since the team has such a huge fan following, the pressure to perform is also high. Last season they made a move in the right direction, but before that, the team was playing quite poorly.

In the 2020–2021 season of the NFL, the Cowboys had an abysmal record of 6-10. This was largely due to the injury sustained by their quarterback, Dak Prescott. The offense was barren throughout the season, but their defense had a horror show as well for the majority of the season.

Due to it, franchise legend Michael Irvin had called out the team’s defensive unit. He claimed that the Cowboys were playing “that Oprah Winfrey defense”, as they were conceding many points every game. He even questioned their efforts. These statements later brought a response from team owner Jerry Jones.

Jerry Jones, replying to Michael Irvin’s comments, said, “Michael Irvin in the middle of two-a-days…he’d be with his pads on in the middle of the day in Austin, Texas, running between practices. The other thing he’d do is he wouldn’t go to bed much at night, either. That’s a man. So when he talks about effort, I listen.”

The billionaire owner knew his team wasn’t playing well. As a result, he acknowledged what Michael Irvin said about the team. He knew that Irvin was deeply connected to the team, and these performances were hurting him as well.

The situation has completely changed for the Dallas Cowboys within two years

After having a disappointing run for a couple of seasons, the Dallas Cowboys bounced back pretty well last season. Dak Prescott returned from injury, and the team’s offense looked quite good throughout the season.

The team got better on the defensive end as well. Drafting Micah Parsons could turn out to be one of the best decisions made by the franchise. His ceiling is quite high, and Parsons is going to keep this Cowboys’ defense together till he stays in Dallas.

Trevon Diggs also had a great season in the secondary. He was the defender with the most interceptions last season, and his presence is also very important for the Cowboys. Heading into the upcoming season of the NFL, hopes are quite high for the Cowboys faithful. The team is young and exciting, which is why the fans of the franchise are confident enough about their team.
