The Kansas City Chiefs once again made it to the Super Bowl in 2022, led by their exceptional quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and their beloved head coach, Andy Reid. Not only is Reid a treasure to the Chiefs’ nation, but he is also considered one of the best coaches in the league today, with a keen eye for talent. Having assembled a team that has won two Super Bowls, Reid’s thoughts on the talent that plays against them are crucial to their success. Reid has now identified a significant threat that he is relieved will no longer be playing against his team.

As a top-tier coach, Reid is acutely aware of the teams and individual players that could pose a threat to his team. Recently, via Twitter, one of Reid’s statements revealed that a tight end, who previously played in the AFC West and has been traded, might have been the biggest threat. Reid’s high praise for this player is a testament to his skill and the respect that he commands from his peers in the league.

Although there have been few players who can make Reid feel uneasy, one athlete that certainly does is Darren Waller, formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders. With the Raiders being one of the biggest rivals of the Chiefs in the AFC West, Waller undoubtedly posed a significant threat to their success. In fact, Reid has even expressed his concern about Waller while acknowledging his exceptional talent.

Reid went as far as to commend Waller’s genetic pool, noting the potential for prosperity in his future children. He even quipped, “When he has children, I want to sign them. His wife is a good athlete, too.” The coach didn’t hold back in expressing his admiration for Waller’s talent and the relief he felt knowing that he would no longer have to face him on the field.

The HC’s relief makes sense with the way Waller’s career has been going. While he is now going off to the Giants, his success with the Raiders has been commendable.

The force that is Darren Waller

It makes sense for Reid and the Chiefs to be worried about the kind of impact Waller can have on another team. While the Chiefs have been the best in the AFC West, they’ve had some intense threats in their conference. One of those was the Las Vegas Raiders who had the tight end, Darren Waller. His contributions as a tight end have been something that may have made Reid nervous. While he wasn’t surrounded by the most optimal team, Waller’s career is a clear indication as to why he might be a threat to Reid. The tight end has had a 7-year-long career with 3,572 yards and 19 touchdowns. However, in a stroke of good luck for the Chiefs, Waller is now headed to the NY Giants.

With another Super Bowl ring, the Chiefs are going to be under pressure to play to their fullest. Therefore, it might be a relief for the Chiefs with Waller being away from the AFC West. It remains to be seen if the Chiefs are going to be able to dominate another season and another Super Bowl win.
