The Jets off-season wasn’t without its challenges. Coach Robert Saleh didn’t hold back his frustration, openly expressing his disappointment with the offensive line’s lackluster showing during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. While the New York Jets are known for their defensive prowess, their offense has been struggling for years. However, there were also moments of lighthearted camaraderie, as Aaron Rodgers backup QBs engaged in playful banter and good-natured ribbing.

The HBO series “Hard Knocks” captured a delightful film session where Rodgers’ understudies attempted to distinguish between his fake runs and fake passes. On another occasion, a former Jets quarterback playfully mimicked Rodgers, with his whispered comments getting caught on camera.

The Jets’ QBs had to vote on which of the two side-by-side frames showed Rodgers faking a run or a pass, based on his subtle body cues. The team authority explained that they had been working hard on improving their play fakes, but it was not easy to fool the eyes of Zach Wilson and Tim Doyle.

Wilson, who was casually reclining in his chair, nailed the first slide with confidence, saying “That was the run on the left.” He even teased Rodgers, saying “You’re f—ng easy”. Rodgers’ expression was priceless when he gave Wilson a blank stare before whispering with a smile “*whispers* What’d you say?”

This Hard Knock clip of a fun game revealed Rodgers’ skill at deceiving the defense with his play fakes, as well as his playful and friendly attitude with his teammates.

The angry side of Coach Robert Saleh

In the second episode of “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets,” Coach Robert Saleh exhibited a departure from his usual demeanor. In a clip from the series, Saleh began by praising the defense, but he strongly criticized the offensive line for its poor performance during a joint practice with the Panthers. According to the coach, the offensive line has been a persistent issue for the Jets over a considerable period. No matter how talented the other offensive players are, their performance is hindered if the offensive line doesn’t step up.

At 44 years old, Coach Saleh passionately expressed that the offensive line needs to “change who the f— we are.” He later mentioned that the Jets demonstrated last year that they function as a 7-10 football team with a highly capable defense and a mediocre offense. He asserted that the Jets must “flip that f—ing s—.” Therefore, the Jets’ offensive line needs to align their mindset and consistently reflect their identity every time they step onto the field. They must endure pain, and strain, and fight relentlessly for every inch they gain.
