The Matthew Stafford – Jared Goff trade has been the biggest transaction this offseason. The Detroit Lions let go of their start quarterback for two future first-round picks, a third-round pick in 2021, and quarterback Jared Goff from the LA Rams.
Swapping quarterbacks and picking up some much important draft capital, some feel the Detroit Lions got the better bargain for the deal. But the Rams believe that Stafford it was all worth it.
Seen as the last piece of the puzzle to bring it all together, the LA Rams are chasing Super Bowl dreams. Meanwhile, the Lions are looking at yet another rebuild with a new head coach and a new quarterback.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford too seems to be pretty happy with life in LA. But defensive back Jimmie Ward of division rivals San Francisco 49ers raised certain questions about the trade.
Detroit Lions got the better deal in Stafford trade
During a YouTube Q&A with SI reporter Grant Cohn, Ward was fielded a question about the Matthew Stafford trade. And the Niners player certainly had a lot to say.
“I like Stafford… but he’s the same quarterback who was on the Detroit Lions and they still didn’t go to the playoffs. And they had Megatron (Calvin Johnson). What was the problem over there in Detroit? Are you going to blame the city? What was the problem?” said Ward.

The Niners player instead saw Jared Goff having a better spell with the Detroit Lions going by what he’s seen.
“They went and traded Jared Goff, who went to the playoffs several times and went to the Super Bowl. Yeah, he lost. He went to the Super Bowl, though. I’ve yet to see that with Matt Stafford… We’ll see. I’m just going off of what I see. And I see Jared Goff got those boys to the Super Bowl,” he added.

Who got the better end of the deal is a hot topic for debate in the NFL community. While Stafford will be expected to deliver from the get-go, Goff will likely have the luxury of settling in at his own pace. Something that should prove to be beneficial for the 2016 first-overall pick.
