The ongoing Lamar Jackson-Ravens standoff has been the talk of the NFL town lately. In a mind-boggling move, the Baltimore Ravens have put Lamar Jackson under their non-exclusive franchise tag, allowing him to test his value in the open market. While most fans, NFL Insiders, and even players have been finding themselves unable to make sense of the ongoing tussle, somehow Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen have been deemed responsible.

Jackson was expected to be showered with offers, but in a surprising turn of events, teams refused to negotiate. Many felt that the NFL owners had something to do with the situation, but former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman had a different approach.

The Baltimore Ravens wanted to offer Jackson a $160-$180 million deal. But Jackson wanted a contract in line with Deshaun Watson, as Cleveland offered Watson a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed deal. Jackson certainly is deserving of his demands, but the Ravens have simply refused to follow through.

Many in the NFL community blamed the NFL owners for ‘collusion’, as Jackson still remains without an offer. However, Richard Sherman had a different take.

During an episode of ‘The Richard Sherman Podcast’, Sherman went on to hold Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen responsible for ruining the QB market.

Sherman started by citing Kirk Cousin’s contract, “When Kirk Cousins got his guaranteed deal, I thought quarterbacks from then on were gonna be like ‘if it ain’t guaranteed, I ain’t taking it“.

Then [Patrick] Mahomes took that BS deal, 10 years and wanted it to like like half a [billion]…when he didn’t set it, then Josh Allen didn’t set it.

As per Sherman’s theory, Jackson is just paying the price of this, “Now Lamar is trying to set it after Deshaun’s already set it, and [teams are] like ‘Nah’, They don’t want to allow certain things to happen because it sets a trend going forward,

Richard Sherman wholeheartedly believes that Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen set a bad precedence for the NFL owners, hurting other QBs in the process.

A strange memo for Lamar

Amidst all the ongoing drama, a strange memo has found its way to each and every NFL team. Lamar Jackon’s business partner, Ken Francis has been accused by the NFL of attempting to persuade negotiations in his favor.

The memo further clarified that any team found guilty of talking to any unauthorized individual other than Lamar Jackson could be potentially charged with a fine of $54,409.

Jackson was quick to deny these rumors, as he took to Twitter to air his frustration.
