The San Francisco 49ers had had insane rumbles since the year began. The Deebo Samuel and Jimmy Garoppolo storylines were among the headliners. Most people expected a big trade after Deebo asked for one; he was unhappy with his position and wanted a new, long-term deal.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler provides an update on the Deebo Samuel-49ers Dilemma. He says that despite several positive developments throughout the offseason, Samuel has yet to revoke the trade request.
He mentions, “Mentioned on [Sports Center] this AM that there’s been no official rescission of the trade request, at least that I’m aware of — but he did show up for minicamp, which is a positive, and there’s not a lot of league-wide chatter about a potential trade right now.”

In terms of context, Deebo Samuel skipped out on the team’s OTA. However, he participated in the San Francisco 49ers mandatory minicamp in Santa Clara. It gave the belief that both parties may have figured out a solution. However, ESPN’s report has a different tale brewing in the back. Deebo is still a Niner, and there are chances for him to come back and mend relations with the franchise.

The San Francisco 49ers have not tried to trade the wide receiver during the offseason. So far, one thing stands clear: The franchise has no desire to give away Samuel. They are very aware of the value of the assets they already have. Even 49ers GM John Lynch said earlier that they had not made the trade, and he would be a fool to do so.
49ers’ GM John Lynch, when asked at last night’s “Dwight Clark Legacy Series” event, about Deebo Samuel’s status with the team: “We haven't traded him, and I'd be a fool to trade him, so yes, Deebo will be part of the 49ers this season.”

The WR is a dynamic athlete who can function as a running back. His ability to work in both positions strengthens his case for a lucrative deal. Moreover, the wideout market exploded with money in the offseason, which could be the final frosting. The 49ers still have time to figure things out and settle the situation. From a statistical aspect, Deebo is in prime mode. They will not miss out on any opportunity to keep him in the mix.
