For a few years, Colin Kaepernick, the former 49ers quarterback, was a huge phenomenon in the NFL. Aside from his shining pro football career, he’s in the tussle for equal opportunity. However, he paid a high price for his chosen path. In 2016, his work as an activist cost him his NFL career, and Kap has been a social activist ever since.

Rick and Teresa adopted Colin Kaepernick when he was just 5 weeks old. Aside from Colin, the Kaepernicks have two biological children, Kyle and Devon. Teresa lost two sons to congenital heart issues. She worked as a nurse when they adopted the ex-49ers QB.

Rick Kaepernick and his family used to live in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, until the family moved to California. They moved out to a different location so that he could take a job at the Hilmar Cheese Company as the operations manager. Newsweek mentions Rick’s job as Senior Vice President of Growth and Development in the same company.
