New York Jets are currently on a quarterback hunt and they identified Derek Carr as one of their potential targets for this offseason. Earlier, the Las Vegas Raiders released Carr, and the 31-year-old became a free agent after spending 9 seasons with them. After becoming a free agent, the QB has been exploring some franchises and the Jets are one of them.

As per Dianna Russini of ESPN, the meeting went really well with the Jets, as Carr could potentially sign with the New York team and cement his legacy as a first-ballot Hall of Famer. After this comment surfaced on social media, many fans absolutely ripped apart the Jets for their comments on Carr.

Earlier Russini said, “[The Jets] made it super personal too, they said ‘We believe if you come to New York and win, you could be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

NFL insider Dov Kleiman earlier posted this statement on Twitter. Former Chiefs’ safety Bernard Pollard made a hilarious comment, asking Kleiman to find the source who actually made the statement from the Jets team.

I need to know who told him that. Dov, you gotta find this out!” Pollard wrote.

Meanwhile, many fans did not spare the Jets, as one fan wrote.

One Twitter shared a hilarious ‘The Office’ gif to describe the situation in Carr’s camp.

One fan made a query about whether it’s April Fool’s Day.

On the other hand, one fan questioned the approach of the Jets with Carr’s deal at the moment.

Meanwhile, one fan joked about Broncos making the same promise to Russell Wilson.

One Twitter user thinks it was all part of the plan from the Jets.

One other fan thinks the Jets will wait on Carr just to see if Aaron Rodgers is willing to come to New York.

On the other hand, one fan truly believes that Carr could become a Hall of Famer if he wins a Super Bowl with the Jets.

It is worth noting that Carr had a fallout with the Raiders near the end of the last season. After spending 9 seasons with the team, he felt heartbroken leaving his beloved team. Now, the Jets have a great opportunity to pounce and sign Carr, which could improve their offense from last season. Last season, Carr had a decent outing, as he threw 3522 yards for 24 touchdowns.

Before Carr became an option for the Jets, Rodgers was heavily linked with the New York side. Rodgers already has a complicated contract situation with the Packers and a possible retirement for him is also on the cards.

Carr’s brother David recently said that Carr’s deal will be a ‘long process’. Hence, both Carr and the Jets are taking it slow before making a decision. However, it would benefit the Jets if they sign Carr because they don’t have to give away any draft picks. They just need to worry about the salary cap.
