These numbers highlight Patrick Mahomes’ impressive performances during the first week of NFL seasons since he joined the league. The tweet lists his stats for each year, “Patrick Mahomes in Week 1 as a starting QB:
2022: 360 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs
2021: 337 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs
2020: 211 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs
2019: 378 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs
2018: 256 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs.

The tweet also includes his “Total stats: 1,542 passing yards, 18 TD passes, 0 INTs with a 136.9 passer rating. 🤯” Throughout the first week of NFL seasons, Patrick Mahomes has consistently shown his value in every season. Now, all eyes will be on the young GOAT as he takes the field against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

In the 2017 draft, the Chiefs announced Patrick Mahomes as the 10th overall pick, and he promptly signed his four-year rookie deal. At the time, the Chiefs already had a capable quarterback in Alex Smith. However, following the saying “fortune favors the bold,” Coach Andy Reid made the bold move of selecting Mahomes as their starting QB.

During his rookie season, Mahomes mostly remained out of the public eye, serving as a backup to Alex Smith. It wasn’t until the final game of the regular season against the Denver Broncos when the Kansas City Chiefs rested their starters that Mahomes had his chance to shine. When he burst onto the field as a starter in 2018 donning the red jersey, Mahomes threw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns, earning the MVP award in his debut season as a starter.
