Green Bay Packers Head Coach, Matt LaFleur, opened up about drafting Jordan Love in the NFL 2020 Draft. While speaking to ESPN Radio in the team’s hometown, Wisconsin, LaFleur said that they weren’t looking to replace franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Green Bay Packers Just Chanced Upon Jordan Love

Matt went on to explain that picking Jordan Love was not something the scouts and coaches initially intended. “It was just one of those situations where there were a couple guys targeted that had just previously been picked and Jordan was the next guy on the board, and so we went with the best player at the time“, he explained on the radio.

However, this explanation of LeFleur’s makes no sense because, in fact, the Green Bay Packers traded up four spots to draft Love. This suggests that the Wisconsin team wanted him particularly and desperately enough that they went the extra mile to ensure no other team could have him.

This move has been criticized to be pre-planned and devious as the team would have benefitted more with a wide receiver. Instead, the team decided to stock-up on quarterbacks despite having Aaron Rodgers in their bag.

Predictions For Jordan Love

Analysts, however, have made bold predictions for Jordan Love. ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes he will win more Super Bowls in Wisconsin than Aaron Rodgers. While we won’t see him perform anytime soon, Love was the 26th overall pick in this year’s Draft. “Aaron Rodgers has one [Super Bowl ring]… So, unless he wins on of the next two or three, all Jordan Love has to do is win two to make this prediction come true.

Love’s draft was almost a recurrence of Aaron Rodgers’s draft to replace Brett Favre. Jordan formerly was the quarterback for Utah State University. In his college career, he made 60 touchdown passes and had 8,600 passing yards.

With Love entering the season as Rodgers’s backup, will Rodgers continue to stay Green Bay’s top choice?
