The Dallas Cowboys started their season in a disappointment against the Buccaneers. Now addressing the outrage of the fans over this past offseason. The Cowboys’ executive vice president, Stephen Jones, son of owner Jerry Jones, has exposed the intentions of the organization.

Stephen Jones is the son of owner Jerry Jones and the executive vice president of the Dallas Cowboys. Even though the team has one of the largest and most engaging fan bases in the NFL, they seem to have lost faith. Their major frustration rose from the failure to do anything meaningful about this offseason.

While addressing recent failures, Stephen talked to the GBag Nation. Stephen said, “We spend every bit of our cap at the end of the day. You get to move your cap forward. We move it all.” 

This came as an explanation for many of the decisions the Cowboys made regarding their roster.

How did Jerry Jones handle the cap space this season?

They failed to reach any agreement with Amari Cooper, their main wide receiver. Consequentially, he was traded to Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick. Furthermore, the team cut La’el Collins as well. After targeting a few big names, notably Randy Gregory. The offseason concluded without any major additions.

Beyond just a bad offseason, the Cowboys even failed to register a single touchdown in their week 1 match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They also took Dak Prescott off the field, following an injury to the thumb of his throwing hand.

However, now it seems that Stephen is assuring fans that Dallas will spend every bit of their cap space. Even though they have a couple of millions left in the cap. They will spend it all when the right opportunity presents itself.

How do the Cowboys’ divisions stand?

The Cowboys, as it stands, still look lacking in many departments. Now starting Cooper Rush as the quarterback. It is surely an uphill battle for the team to actually mount any challenge to the current contenders in the league.

Cooper Rush surprised many with his performance against the defending AFC champions, Cincinnati Bengals. Defeating them 20-17. the quarterback threw for 235 yards and 1 touchdown. Even then. Their divisional rivals, a resurgent Philadelphia Eagles, and a battle-ready New York Giants have both started the season perfectly with a 2-0 record.

The Cowboys still have a long season ahead of them. And there is no certain time period with when Dak could be returning to the field. They will have their hands full in Week 3 against the Giants, which will be a must-win for the Cowboys.
