Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts have also been a contender for the award. Many questioned Mahomes’ abilities especially after the Chiefs packed off wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins. But, the receiver’s absence does not seem to deter Mahomes from doing better than anticipated.
Patrick Mahomes is at the center of the MVP debate
Nick Wright from ‘First Things First’ has only good things to say about Patrick Mahomes.
The television personality said, “What is frustrating to me about this conversation and we saw this happen to Michael Jordan and we saw it happen with LeBron, but it was after they won a bunch of MVPs when we did it to them. Mahomes is there every week and then we pick the next guy that’s neck and neck to him…”
Wright believes that Mahomes has been the answer to the MVP question until now.
He said,“…because we have to elevate someone alongside him, the moment Josh Allen falls down, Tua comes up, when Tua has a bad stretch it’ll be Jalen Hurts. And it’ll be Mahomes here [on top] the whole and then someone else we decide”.
He stated that unless the quarterback was injured, he was at the top of the running. Wright also believes that the NFL World continues to measure Mahomes with other players, one after another.
