Tom Brady is known for his heroics on the field. He digs his teams out of numerous no rescue situations. But his number two became a hero off the gridiron. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup QB helped save four lives in a heroic rescue operation in the city.

According to the authorities in Tampa, a helicopter crash landed a couple of hundred yards from Davis Island, trapping four people in the water. The crash happened due to the chopper losing power and landing near the Yacht Club of the island in Tampa Bay. But due to the heroics of Gabbert and his two brothers, all the four victims got out of it without a scratch.

“I remember seeing two lifejackets, so we raced over there. It looked like they were in duress. The youngest kid had just come up and said he was pinned in there,” Gabbert said in a press conference on Friday.

But Gabbert refused any credit for the rescue. Instead, he thanked the Tampa police department for a speedy operation when he called 911.

“I was just at the right place at the right time,” the Buccaneers backup QB added.

Certainly, a tense situation that turned happy for everyone involved in the end. Being a backup to Tom Brady on the field means no spotlight at all most of the days. But Gabbert stepped up when it was a matter of life and death for the crash victims. With that out of the way, all eyes, including Gabbert’s, will go back on Brady as the Buccaneers gear up for the crunch Panthers clash.
