Former NFL punter Pat McAfee is a well-known voice in the world of the NFL through his show, ‘The Pat McAfee Show’. From trade rumors to NFL headlines to talking with insiders, McAfee has been working relentlessly to provide juicy news and updates to NFL fanatics all over. He even recently embarked on his journey toward becoming a parent, after the birth of his first child together with his wife. Even after retirement, McAfee has built a smooth sailing-life with his podcast. But earlier this year, he faced a legal battle after the Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre decided to file a lawsuit against the ex-NFL star for alleged defamation during one of his podcast episodes.

Now, Pat McAfee has come forward to clear the air. He has revealed new updates regarding the Favre dilemma that had taken place.

Favre to drop the lawsuit

In a recent episode of the Pat McAfee show, the ex-NFL punter provided fans with a full update on what was going on with Brett Favre. McAfee said that the statements he had made in a “comedic style” were based “solely on public information and allegations.” He went on to talk about the respect he holds for Favre’s Hall of Fame career and stated of not have any personal knowledge of the Mississippi affair.

Furthermore, McAfee said, “I am pleased to report that based solely on me again clarifying these points now, with no settlements paid, Brett is withdrawing his suit against me. I would much rather talk about sports than about lawsuits. So I’m glad we have all of this behind us. We now, move on.”

The incident started when Pat McAfee brought up the Mississippi scandal involving the Packers legend, causing a legal response from him.

Favre had felt disrespected by comments made by Pat McAfee

During that episode, McAfee had called the former Packers QB “a thief” who was “stealing from poor people in Mississippi.” This led to Favre feeling that he was being defamed on the show, further prompting him to file the lawsuit.McAfee had earlier expressed disbelief about the lawsuit not being real, after getting them from the Packers legend. The legal team of Favre had sent two letters each to McAfee and Shannon Sharpe. The letters demanded that both personalities retract their statements made about the Packers legends over the Mississippi scandal. It also demanded that McAfee delete all the episodes that mention or talk about the scandal involving Favre’s name.

With water under the bridge now, McAfee can continue to focus on the new task that lies ahead of him. The task of being a parent to his little girl, and the task of being a proud father.
