Tom Brady knocks again. But this time, the victory was sweeter because it was Brady’s first-ever regular season win over the New Orleans Saints after signing with the Bucs in 2020. The highlight was the Bucs’ defense outplaying Saints quarterback Jameis Winston and later taking a dig at his on-field abilities.

Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season helped the Buccaneers create a strong foothold in the NFC. Despite Brady losing half of the prominent players in the Offensive and Defensive units, the passer managed to seal an easy victory against one of the most formidable sides in the division.
While last time it was the defense that helped Brady to overcome the deficit, this time, both offense and defense played their part. One of the prime reasons behind the victory was Winston’s history with the franchise.
The 28-year-old played for the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Buccaneers and in 2020 he got signed by the Saints. Thus his former teammates know him very well inside out.
After the game, linebacker Devin White, who was one of the stars behind slaying the Saints, came forward to express his happiness. Instead, he took a dig at Winston, saying the squad knew he would eventually turn the ball over.
“When Jameis left our team, everybody knows what he did that last year,” White said of Winston. Back in 2009, the quarterback passed for 33 touchdowns but tossed for 30 interceptions, creating a record in itself.
“And we feel like we had a great defense then, and he threw 30 picks. We just knew he was going to give us the ball, we knew the running backs would cough it up.”
“You know, that’s something we came in talking about. We want 30 turnovers as a ballclub ourselves. It’s just another game to take the ball,” he added to his explanation.
Running Back Leonard Fournette mocked James Winston in his way
After White’s bold statement about the Saints quarterback, another incident that went viral was the Bucs’ flight discussion back to their home. Fournette recorded a video eating W’s, something which Winston used to do earlier after defeating the Bucs.

In the background, wide receiver Chris Godwin passed by and asked White about his take on Winston. He was unaware of the video being recorded and kept on asking, with White deliberately refusing to respond. Later on, Fournette alerted him about his activity.

The 20-10 victory of the Bucs saw three interceptions by the defense and one of them turning into a touchdown. Brady’s perfect throws and receivers picking it sharp made the job look easy.
