It has been a difficult journey for Mason Crosby. The Green Bay Packers star and veteran kicker remains without a team after finishing his 16th season with the Packers in 2022. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL draft out of Colorado and became the starting kicker as a rookie, holding onto the position throughout his career with the Packers. And now, he revealed another struggle in his life.

As the second-longest tenured player on the team in 2022, behind Aaron Rodgers, one can only speculate on the reasons for Crosby’s current status in the league. But amidst those speculations, recently, the Packers star aggrieved about losing a family member, leaving fans saddened.

As the offseason progresses, teams are expected to fill all remaining vacancies from the beginning of the league year. Although Crosby remains a free agent, he works hard to secure a 17th NFL season. It seems unlikely that he will return to Green Bay, considering the Packers have already drafted Auburn kicker Anders Carlson in the sixth round.

However, Crosby keeps his options open and does not rule out any possibilities. Yet, amidst the off-season burns, Mr. Magic Leg lost someone close to his heart which has the hearts of the fans go out to the family.

The Packers star offered an emotional account of his 90-Year-Old grandad, Harry Crosby, whom the family lost just yesterday. Mason took to the Gram and shared, “My grandad Harry Crosby passed away yesterday. He was 90 years old. Because of his faith, I know he is resting in peace with our Heavenly Father. As we grieve our loss and remember his life in this time, please send over any stories if you ever had the chance of meeting him. #rip”

His emotions reflected as the 39-year-old wanted to collate his granddad’s memories from his fans, family, and friends alike. It feels devastating after his 30 years old sister-in-law, Brittany Crosby, died just last year. The family lost her after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

This news came amid Mason’s 2022 bounce-back season. It’s impressive that he had an 86.2% field-goal percentage, which is a remarkable feat, even though it only ranked 19th in the NFL. Currently a street-free agent, he is preparing to kick in for a new team in 2023.

Crosby informed ESPN as he said, “Never count anything out in this game,” according to Forbes. “Weird stuff happens every year, and you never know. You never know what’s going to happen.” It’s a tough pill to swallow for the Cheeseheads, but it seems like there’s a chance that Mr. Magic Leg might not be coming back to Green Bay. The veteran kicker is a free agent and there may still be hope that he could return to the team. Though, recent real estate news suggests otherwise.

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, he sold his home in Green Bay for a cool $1.35 million. He even bought a new one in Tennessee. It’s hard to know exactly what this means for Crosby’s future with the Packers, but one thing’s for sure: there’s some speculation swirling around.

With the Cowboys’ kicking situation in jeopardy, they might draft one soon. They took undrafted rookie Jonathan Garibay to training camp with little competition last season. Yet only to replace him with familiar face Brett Maher midway through August last year. Now, though, a viable option is available in longtime Green Bay kicker Mason Crosby.

The 39-year-old had hit 25 of 29 kicks for the Packers last year! It’s hard to say whether the Cowboys will draft him, but if Mike McCarthy does, it will make sense. Though, Crosby may not ask a team to break the bank for him. Who knows what the future holds for the Cowboys’ kicking game?
