McVay was with Rams GM Les Snead in a press conference when they came to know about the Patriots picking Strange. The Rams head coach jokes, stating, “Strange just went…How about that? And we wasted our time watching thinking he’d be at 104 maybe.” It was a head-scratching pick by the AFC East giants as they look to get back to their glory years.

The Patriots traded down from the No.21 overall pick to No.29 to choose the Tennesse-Chattanooga offensive lineman in the first round. Belichick believes that he is a perfect fit for their system and would have been taken off the board if they didn’t act quickly. Strange was seen by many NFL analysts to be a second or even a third-round pick. But with the Draft night came a welcome surprise.

Sean McVay seems to have had an interest in Cole Strange

The Rams head coach was admitting his desire to draft the UT Chattanooga prospect with their draft pick. Strange was a 5-year starter and was playing the majority of his game from the left guard position. It seems his performances during the Senior Bowl have done the trick as the Patriots chose him to fill their guard depth.
