The Cincinnati Bengals had a slow start to the Super Bowl LVI, but Joe found the required touchdown they were looking for in the second quarter. No, not Joe Burrow, Joe Mixon. It was the Cincy star running back that made the first move from the Bengals offense.

The Bengals were getting bullied by the Rams defense at the start of the Super Bowl LVI game. They scored just one field goal in reply to the 10 points scored by the Rams. Aaron Donald, Von Miller, and Jalen Ramsey were exploiting the Burrow-led offense when Mixon stepped up and found the jackpot.
Joe Mixon and not Joe Burrow throws the first touchdown for Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI
Joe Mixon connected with receiver Tee Higgins at the back of the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown. The Donald-led defense wasn’t letting Burrow get away on 3rd downs. So this time, he made the play on the 2nd and goal. A play that got the Rams confused since it was not Burrow but Mixon throwing the ball.

While Mixon made the big play, Ja’Marr has been playing a crucial role in getting those first downs for the Bengals. The two receivers are coming out big on the big day, and this is all that the Bengals need right now.
Mixon becomes the third RB in Super Bowl history to throw a TD
This was the first-ever touchdown pass by Joe Mixon, and what a day to throw it. This Cincy special trick play made Mixon only the third running back in Super Bowl history to score a touchdown. Tom Brady was right all along, Mixon is indeed one of the most underrated backs in the league right now.

The first RB ever was the Cowboys RB Robert Newhouse, who threw a 29-yard touchdown Golden Richards during the Super Bowl XIII. That pass led to the Cowboys defeating the Broncos.
A couple of years later, Rams Lawrence McCutchen threw for a 24-yard touchdown pass to Ron Smith against the Steelers to become the second RB.
Joe Mixon’s pass gave Bengals the needed push to be up close to the Rams on the scoreboard. Though it was just a small achievement for Mixon, will he win big in the bigger picture?
