WATCH: Giants RB Saquon Barkley Intentionally Slides Before Touchline to Avoid a Touchdown

New York Giants Running Back Saquon Barkley had a superb outing against the Ravens. He rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. The 25-year-old also took three catches for 12 yards as the Giants eked out a 24-20 win. It extended the Giants’ stunning show in the new season.  

However, it was his deliberate slide in the game that caught the attention of the NFL world. Barkley had a lane to the end zone, but instead of going for points, he took a slide after a 6-yard gain to get the first down. It forced the Ravens to burn their final two timeouts and helped the Giants to get the win. 

His act of avoiding a touchdown made the game analysts and Twitter talk. Meanwhile, the video became viral and several fans shared it.

Talking after the game, Barkley acknowledged the decision was not a suddenly planned one. The talented star added that he knew fantasy owners would not be happy, but he had got a job to do for the team. Meanwhile, the loss pushed the opponents, the Ravens, to 3-3 at the end of Week 6.

Earlier, Giants HC Brian Daboll said that he told the team to follow the Lamar Jackson fumble to run the clock out.

“We communicated about it after the turnover. One first down. We didn’t need any more points. We could end it by kneeling on it,” the coach said.  

New York Giants continue a stunning run

The Giants continued their bright start to the new season. It was a come-from-behind victory against the favorites. The Giants have now beaten the Ravens and Green Bay Packers in successive weeks and have a 5-1 record. Earlier, talking about the loss, star QB Aaron Rodgers admitted the Giants have played a better game. 

Brian Daboll and his men are a team to watch out for this season. They stand second in the NFC East behind the Eagles, who have won all their games. Their next game is against the Jaguars. A win would further enhance their playoff hopes and extend the dream run.
