There was a lot of pressure on Jason Garrett and the New York Giants ahead of the 2021 NFL season. The NFC East franchise narrowly missed out on the playoffs last season. They ended their campaign with a 6-10 record and finished second in their division behind Washington Football Team.

Quarterback Daniel Jones had a busy offseason. He’s been working in close tandem with WRs Darius Slayton and Kenny Golladay over the summer. The chemistry between the trio was evident as Giants traveled to the national capital to face Washington on Thursday night.

And as destiny would have it, Jones found Slayton to hand his team a slender lead in what is turning out to be a thrilling affair.

Daniel Jones connects with Darius Slayton as Giants lead at FedEx Field

All eyes were on star running back Saquon Barkley on Thursday night in Washington. The reputed New York Giants man was making his long-awaited return from injury. However, it was quarterback Daniel Jones who stole the show with a few eye-catching runs down FedEx Field as the visitors searched for their first win of the season.

After a bright start to the game, it was the home team that lead thanks to an impressive display by backup QB Taylor Heinicke. But Jones got his team back in the fray for a win after connecting with WR Darius Slayton for a magnificent 33-yard touchdown.

Daniel Jones, a 2019 1st-round pick by the Giants, is often compared to 2-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning. But the youngster surpassed Manning’s seasonal rushing stat in tonight’s game against Washington.

Of course, he still needs to win a couple of Lombardis to be considered New York’s best-ever quarterback though.
