Washington Football Team suffered yet another loss this time against Green Bay Packers 24-10. However, the difference could have been lesser if they counted the touchdown run made by Taylor Heinicke in the third quarter of the game.

The Redskins were trailing 21-7 to the Packers in the third quarter of the game, when Heinicke scrambled his way down the touchline. Heinicke, however, fell prey to the rule wherein if a player gives himself up before the touchdown, the TD won’t count.

Unaware of his ruled out play, the Redskins quarterback celebrated his touchdown as he hopped into the stands for a Lambeau Leap when he spotted a Washington fan in the crowd. However, upon finding out what actually happened, he embarrassingly had to lineup again to give another shot on fourth down.

The Packers then stuffed the quarterback, denying him a touchdown and taking over on downs. And so instead of narrowing down the lead taken by the Packers by 21-14, the Washingtons remained two scores behind the Aaron Rodgers led offense.

After the game, Heinicke blamed more on the issue with officiating for his unrewarded play. However, it was his lack of execution that caused Washington seven valuable points. “I don’t want to get into specifics, but I felt like I was in there both times,” Heinicke told reporters. “I don’t want to get fined up here so I’m not going to get into specifics.
