Though it was known that Rodgers was dealing with a thumb injury, not many knew that it was in fact, broken. But, the most surprising thing is not the injury itself but the individual who broke the news. While many would expect an NFL insider to do so, that certainly was not the case.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the news came from a Packers fan who met the quarterback during his ‘Make-A-Wish’ interaction. He later revealed what he thought about his injury becoming public information. Rodgers was featured on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ after the Packers’ loss to the Eagles.
Aaron Rodgers may not have expected a lunch-time conversation to make the news
In response to Pat McAfee, Rodgers said that the thumb injury wouldn’t have changed anything for him. Although he missed practice, the former MVP said he taped it up for games and continued playing. Rodgers, who has stated that he has played through other injuries over the course of his career, said that he didn’t need a “built-in excuse” every week. He added. “Now after we got, you know, Make-a-Wish kids scoop the story and then there’s some other report leaked by who knows who about the type of fracture it is and ideas about surgery… interesting times we live in”

The user, who goes by Big B on Twitter, revealed Rodgers’ injury status through a tweet.
Since this is a big talking point today let's break some news. I asked Rodgers during my Make-A-Wish how his finger is and he replied that his thumb is actually broken. His thumb was still really bruised and swollen last Saturday.

Rodgers was asked if he had issues with the way the story was leaked and the particular individual who broke the story. He said, “Yeah, he’s a [sic] aspiring podcaster, I believe. No, he’s a great kid. He was asking a lot of questions. We had a nice little lunchtime chat and then it got released.” Injuries aside, the QB has a tough road ahead. Jordan Love took over from Rodgers after he left the field indisposed, but even his enthusiasm could not save the Packers. Their loss to the Eagles puts them at 4-8. Rodgers and the Packers need every victory they can get with their chances of getting a spot in the postseason slowly slipping away.
