Everyone is aware of the skill set of the linebacker, Von Miller. The Buffalo Bills would not want to trade him under any circumstance. However, he almost joined the Dallas Cowboys before signing a six-year deal with the Bills. The LB called his old friend and Cowboys defensive great, DeMarcus Ware, inquiring about a position at the Cowboys.
Both Ware and Miller played together for three years with the Denver Broncos. Consequently, they won a Super Bowl in the 2016 season as well. As per DeMarcus, Von was keen to join Dallas to return to where he was born and raised. In an exciting phone call, the LB inquired about inside information about the team in hopes of approaching the front office for a potential offer.

Moreover, Miller looked to make a solid comeback after playing just one season after his injury. In 2021, Miller recorded 9.5 sacks in 15 games. In addition, he got four sacks in four playoff games. As a result, he helped the LA Rams win the Super Bowl LVI. This performance highlighted Von’s ability to make promising comebacks.
The Cowboys wouldn’t have been able to afford Von due to Ware’s $14 million salary cap. However, adding him to the defense lineup could have become a game-changer for the Cowboys. They finished 12-5 in the 2021 season.
What was the conversation between DeMarcus and Von Miller?
Reflecting on what Von asked him on call, Ware tells the Dallas Morning News, “I remember when Von called me he said, ‘Hey is Dallas interested? I’m a free agent. Call Jerry and them and see what they want to do.'” The Cowboys’ pass-rusher replied to him, “Are you trying to get them to empty the bank account? What you trying to do?”

The Bills’ LB remarked he is trying to return home, and joining the Cowboys would help him achieve this vision. But before the talks could progress further, Miller signed a $120 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.
If Miller had joined the Cowboys, the unstoppable duo could have wreaked havoc on other teams’ offenses. Instead, both are exceptional defensive assets to their teams. Von Miller will look to maximize his opportunities with the Bills this season.
