Because of Tagovailoa’s outstanding play, the Miami Dolphins are the only undefeated team in the AFC right now. Not only that, but despite seeming to have a concussion, Tagovailoa returned to the field to provide the Dolphins with their third win of the season against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. However, the triumph this time provoked intense controversy.

Injured Tua Tagovailoa came back with a bang

Bills linebacker Matt Milano struck the Dolphins starting quarterback Tagovailoa during the match. Milano’s hard strike pushed Tagovailoa to the ground, and he smacked his head.

Tagovailoa immediately stood up but could not walk on his own and collapsed again. Because of this injury, Tagovailoa left the game in the second quarter.

However, the Dolphins’ management brought him back at the start of the second half. As the winning team’s quarterback, Tagovailoa ended the game with 186 passing yards and one touchdown.

With the match-winning score of 21-19, many questioned the Dolphins’ decision to make the concussed quarterback play again. In the press, Coach McDaniel described the hit as a “lower back injury. “When he hit his head on the ground, I assumed it was a head injury. But his legs got wobbly because his lower back was completely loose as he described it,” Mike McDaniel quoted.

NFLPA to enquire into Dolphin’s decision after Tua Tagovailoa’s injury

Tua Tagovailoa followed to the tune of the coach. “Kind of got my legs caught under someone, they were trying to push back and it felt like I hyper-extended my back or something,” Tagovailoa explained.

“It kind of hurt. I got up, and that’s kind of why I stumbled. My back kind of locked up on me. But for the most part, I’m good. Passed whatever concussion protocol they had.” However, the NFLPA started an inquiry into the Dolphins’ decision to bring back Tagovailoa into the game.
