October 23, 2021 was a very remarkable day for Rob McLeod and Sailor, the touchdown dog. During the Calgary Stampeders football game, the border collie/whippet hybrid took the amazing title of longest record in a live catching event.
Rob McLeod, popularly known by his self given moniker Frisbee Rob, and Sailor enjoyed the roars of 21,000 spectators at McMahon Stadium in Canada.

In the recent video that resurfaced and went viral on twitter, we saw one of the three throws that Rob and Sailor participated in. Rob gives the Frisbee a powerful throw, with the collie/whippet hybrid starting on a brisk run. Reaching the 100 yard mark before the Frisbee, Sailor then made a spectacular catch that sent the thousands gathered at the McMahon stadium, including Rob go berserk.

The faithful canine then sprinted with the frisbee in its mouth back to its “fun uncle” Rob.
All this while, the dog is seen wearing a pink outfit for this throw. It was during the PinkPower game, which is reportedly a “long-standing initiative between Calgary Stampeders and Canadian Cancer Society.”
Commenting on the popularity gained by the video McLeod states that the video has definitely increased eyeballs on CFL and the Stampeders. CFL is not a sport which is very popular outside of Canada, and hopefully this video brings in some much needed attention towards the game.
“Not a lot of people outside know about the CFL. People don’t know that it is a 110 yard field. That was the challenge. If it was an NFL field, we would have been able to go end zone to end zone” states McLeod proudly about his latest achievement. He also added that if conditions were a little more favored, even a 120-130 yard catch is absolutely possible in a stadium.
Dynamic Duo breaks World Record
Despite being an energetic duo who often travel together – the record breaking Rob is not Sailor’s master. As stated on his website, “Sailor is owned by a friend, but gets together with McLeod regularly to practice and compete”. He is often touted as the fun uncle by the canine’s family.

“I’m the guy who throws frisbee for him and the guy to have fun with” states McLeod. They’ve been competing together for about four years as of 2023.

This is not Frisbee Rob’s first rodeo when it comes to world records either. He holds numerous entries in the Guinness Book of world records – including the longest flying disc throw caught by a dog in 2012, and the longest flying disc throw, run and caught on ice skates in 2013.
