Travis Kelce has won two Super Bowls with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, once in 2019, and the recent Super Bowl LVII victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. The TE has also made it to the exclusive SNL club after hosting the show on the 4th of March. For someone so fun and party-loving, finding a reason to hate can be difficult. But Travis Kelce once talked about why he has this particular resentment towards a team in the NFL.

The Chiefs TE does not have a soft spot in his heart for the Las Vegas Raiders. But what led to the start of this resentment?

Once, in an interview with the ‘Bussin’ with the Boys‘, Travis Kelce opened up as to why he has this particular resentment towards the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders had defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on their home turf at the Arrowhead stadium during an NFL match in 2020. After defeating the Chiefs 40-32, the Raiders took a sort of victory lap around the stadium. This fueled a sense of vengeance inside Travis Kelce, as he and his team were preparing to face off against the Raiders again on their home turf.

The Chiefs tight end said, “They beat us man, I means hats off to the f**king guys, you know. I just wanna f**king murder them. You know exactly what that does. It fuels you. Everybody wants to say ‘oh the media is hyping it up’. It is what it is. If they treat it like it’s a Super Bowl, let’s go ahead and give them our best shot man and make it something worth their while.”

While the reasons for the negatively fueled emotion may be justified, the Chiefs and Travis got their revenge on the Raiders later on during that season.

Karma at its best

The celebratory victory laps did not certainly turn out to be a step in the right direction for the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs managed to secure a rollout 48-9 win against the Raiders again on their home turf. Apart from this, the Chiefs’ PA guy mocked the Raiders even more by playing “Wheels on the bus” out loud as possible.

After a bad season in 2020, including Henry Ruggs III’s drunk driving charge, this must have felt like the cherry on top of their get-well-soon cake. It just goes to show that karma will bite you in the back if you mistreat it in any way. Surely a lesson to remember for the Raiders for years to come.
