For Tom Brady, life has been all about football. He has solidified himself as the GOAT of the game with his splendid achievements during his playing days. Playing for both the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady has won 7 Super Bowl rings, a record to echo for the years to come. After retiring for good for the league in February this year, TB12 is taking a break to rejuvenate before the start of his alternate career in life. The 45-year-old former QB agreed to a 10-year $375 million contract in May 2022 to be the network’s lead analyst after he retires.

As Brady gears up for his second career, another veteran in this field has come forward with looming doubts over TB12’s relevance as a broadcaster for the sport.

Being one of the most respected personas as an analyst, Phil Simms had already spent years as a top NFL analyst for CBS “The NFL Today”. Now, the former New York Giants (no.7 Overall pick 1979 Draft) star is moving on to expanding into the segment of podcasts with his new show “The Simms Complete”. While speaking to Michael McCarthy for Front Office Sports, Simms, who covered six Super Bowls as the lead analyst for CBS, opened up about his doubts about Brady covering the league as an in-game analyst.

Simms said. “I’ve got to see it- or hear it- to believe it. I don’t know. I just can’t picture Tom Brady up there announcing games. You know why? He’s Tom Brady. He’s just bigger than life… In this day and age, is it worth it for him? After TB12 delayed his entry into his career as an analyst, a herd of doubters formed regarding the alternative career choice made by the 7X Super Bowl champion. Now Simms, who is a veteran in this profession, seems to have joined that group as well.

How does Simms envision The GOAT at FOX?

During the interview, the Giants legend further went on to state that Tom Brady might come in handy for the network. But as an in-game analyst, he does not see Brady pulling up his socks to take up that role. Simms said, “Hey, I think they’ll use him in different ways. I don’t care. I’m going to say he doesn’t do games. They’ll put him on a pregame show and let him talk a little. There’s lots of ways to use him. He’s Tom Brady… He looks good. And he knows a lot of football, that’s for sure. So yes, I think they’ll use him in a different way. I don’t have any insight- and I don’t even care. But I’ll be surprised of he does games. I will be.”
