Colin Kaepernick is a famous NFL quarterback who made it to the headlines a few years back. Kaepernick, in 2016, took a knee at the national anthem before the game started. It became the highlight and got many mixed reactions from the NFL community. A few years back, legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant came in support of Colin Kaepernick and praised his efforts.

Kobe Bryant visited the show ‘The Undefeated’ and told the host Jemele Hill, that he admired Colin Kaepernick as he did what no one else was ready to do. On the show, Bryant said, “I think what Colin Kaepernick stood for is the epitome of doing what he believes is right. Things have been taken out of context and misconstrued.”

On the show, Jemele pointed out the donations Bryant had made to the Kaepernick’s fundraising campaigns. She also asked him what made him do that? Bryant said, “We don’t need to jump into this thing. It’s too much controversy. We don’t need it. Is that the right thing to do? You know it’s not. So why not do it right? So it was a very easy decision for me.”

Back in 2018, Kobe donated $10,000 to Youth Service, Inc. It is a Philadelphia-based organization that works to provide shelter and other services to families in need. Appreciating Kobe Bryant, Colin had also thanked him on his social media account.

In 2020, Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna passed away in a very tragic helicopter crash. The death of the NBA legend shocked the world, as he was among the most famous basketball players who had many records to his name.

After the news broke out, Kaepernick took to Twitter to express his sorrow and condolences.
