The New York Liberty point guard and the Las Vegas Raiders center announced the news of their engagement on Instagram. On Saturday, Sabrina Ionescu uploaded a post saying that her boyfriend Hroniss Grasu proposed.

The post had a series of pictures that showed Grasu on his knees in front of a heart made of roses. There were candles in the shape of a heart on the ground. She captioned the post, “It’s always us here’s to forever with you 1.20.23 #finally”

Vanessa Bryant happily wrote, “Woooohoooooo!!! Yay!!!! Congratulations!!!!!” Sabrina’s teammate DiDi Richards excitedly wrote, “HOLY SHIIIITTTTTT!!!!!! FINALLY!!!! CONGRATS SAAAABBBBB!!!!!! can’t wait to wedding plannn”

World-renowned tennis player Naomi Osaka commented, “congratulations.” Kelsey Plum, the star player of Las Vegas Aces, commented, “Congratulations” with several red heart emojis. Cameron Brink, who plays for Stanford Cardinal’s woman’s basketball team, also expressed her happiness for the 25-year-old.

She competed for the Ducks from 2017 to 2020 and was named Pac-12 Player of the Year in each of her final three seasons. As a senior in 2019–20, she also won the Naismith Player of the Year award.

Ionescu was chosen by The Liberty as the first overall pick in the 2020 WNBA draft. Last year, she was selected for both her first All-Star team and the second team of the All-WNBA. Ionescu and Team USA also took home a gold medal at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2022.

Despite not enrolling in the University of Oregon at the same time, Ionescu and Grasu were both outstanding athletes there. Grasu played for the Ducks from 2011 to 2014. In each of his final three seasons, he was chosen for the first-team All-Pac-12, and in 2013 and 2014, he was chosen for the first-team All-American.

Then, in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Bears selected the center in the third round. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The 31-year-old joined Las Vegas’ practice squad in October 2021. He participated in four games this year, including the Week 15 game against the New England Patriots, which he started.
