When Deion Sanders arrived as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, not many expected the monumental overhaul that was about to follow. In one of the biggest transfer portal exoduses in recent times, 71 CU players have voluntarily or involuntarily entered the portal after losing their spot in Coach Prime’s roster. While the criticisms piled on from the start, it was Pittsburgh Panthers’ head coach Pat Narduzzi whose comments irked Sanders the most. And the 2x Lombardi-winning HC gave a staunch reply to Narduzzi’s criticisms this week.

Ninth-year head coach Pat Narduzzi accused the former Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers cornerback of exploiting and misusing the transfer portal. And Deion Sanders, outspoken that he is, was not about to sit back and let the accusations stew. Prime Time hit the Panthers coach back with some strong words of his own.

Coming in as back-to-back SWAC Champions from the JSU Tigers, Deion Sanders had his eyes on the big leagues. And the Colorado Buffaloes’ 1-11 record from last season didn’t inspire the necessary confidence in the iconic CB cum head coach. This led to the departure of 51 scholarship players from the 2022 roster, leaving only 13 from last year’s CU side since the portal opened in mid-April. “I want y’all to get ready and go ahead and jump in that portal. The more you jump in, the more room you make,” Coach Prime had announced after his arrival.

Well, Pat Narduzzi had an issue with that. “That’s not the way it’s meant to be. That’s not what the rule intended to be. It was not to overhaul your roster. We’ll see how it works out but that, to me, looks bad on college football coaches across the country,” he told 247Sports. Talking to 247Sports this week, Sanders gave a brutal reply.

What was his situation when he came to Pitt? A different situation than me. He is not mad at me, he is mad at the situation in football now that allowed his best player [Jordan Addison to USC] to leave a year ago. He’s using me to shoot bullets at another coach who he has an issue with,” Coach Prime retorted.

And that wasn’t it.

Deion Sanders also went a bit too personal when he attacked the popularity of the Pitt Panthers’ head coach.

Prime Time refused to acknowledge Narduzzi’s coaching presence

I don’t know who he is. If he walked in here right now, I wouldn’t know him,” Prime Time said, brutally brushing off Narduzzi’s presence in the coaching hemisphere. Pat Narduzzi has been in the head coaching business since 1990, holding an overall record of 62-41. Narduzzi also holds a Bowl record of 2-4 and won the ACC Division titles in 2018 and 2021. Coach Prime, on the other hand, holds a 27-6 record as a head coach during his two-year stay at Jacksonville.

There have also been recent speculations about CU leaving the Pac-12 for the Big-10 conference. Will Deion Sanders stick to his present conference and take the last-placed Buffaloes to the epitome of the Pac-12, proving Narduzzi wrong, once and for all?
