There is more reason to celebrate the most-talked-about American athlete duo. After being recently signed by the Green Bay Packers, the 28-year-old safety, Jonathan Owens, shares an affectionate congratulatory post for his four-time Olympic gold medalist wife. 

The couple officially met for the first time via dating app Raya in March 2020 and tied the knot on April 22, 2023, after getting engaged in February 2022. Both have been traveling extensively given their professional engagements, and even though the newlyweds are unable to be physically present, they are making considerable effort to make things special from afar.

After a long absence from the world of gymnastics, four-time Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles, demonstrated a near-perfect Yurchenko double pike on the vault, at the opening day of the US Gymnastics Championships, which has reportedly never been landed in competition by another female gymnast. She was placed first with a score of 59.3, which puts her at 2.75 points lead against the other contestants. 

Her husband, Jonathan Owens, is currently in Wisconsin, gearing up for his first preseason with the Packers in Green Bay, shared his appreciation for her wife’s strong achievement via social media posts and stories. “Easy!!!!! I love it Man im so proud of you baby!!!!” he tweeted attaching a clip of Biles demonstrating her flawless winning routine.

Following her win, Biles will be competing in the final round of the championships in San Jose, California, on Sunday night.

“Long distance isn’t easy”: Biles on being away from beau 

The couple started regularly hanging out in the Houston area after they first in March 2020. It was shortly after that the pandemic announcement suspended all athletic meets, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This worked in the favour of the couple who got enough time to spend together and really get to know each other. 

In a February 2022 interview with Today, the NFL rising star reflected on their relationship, “We just kind of started hanging out more and more and you start to want to see a person… I started to want to see her more.” “My dog really loved her.” Owens highlighted.

Things moved pretty fast from then on. The couple has been open about their relationship and posts adorable pictures and messages dedicated to each other on social media. Biles has made it to almost every NFL match that featured her partner. “Getting to go to my boyfriend’s [now husband] games. I told him that I’ve never been to so many games in a season in my life. Because usually, I’m so busy and all over the place.” she said. 

Both athletes have had to travel a lot in recent times. Owens remains in Wisconsin with the Green Bay Packers, while Biles is set for the finale in California. Being apart might be difficult, but the couple makes sure that distance does not get the better of them. As Biles aptly sums it up, “Long distance isn’t easy, but seeing you play your heart out is so worth it 💛 I’m so proud of you baby.”
