NFL fans are no strangers to iconic rivalries. From Brady VS. Manning to Rodgers Vs. Stafford, fans always want to see the next big thing. Maybe it’s high time we should also add Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow to the list.
The Super Bowl 2022 Champion is statistically ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals QB. But the ‘Undisputed’ host had some other theories of his own. In a heated conversation with Richard Sherman and Keyshawn Johnson, the host was hell-bent on protecting Burrow.
Patrick Mahomes, The Champion!

The Chiefs’ QB made his mark when he got that 38-35 win over the Eagles. In 2022, Mahomes was declared the Super Bowl Champion and MVP, making it a total of 2 out of his 3 Super Bowl appearances. He took the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl in 50 years. Of course, that gives him a legendary status.
Mahomes has an athletic advantage over Burrow as well. Mahomes is big and fast. Also, he is the son of Pat Mahomes, the professional MLB pitcher. But that’s not the only thing that helps him win.
He also has the support of probably the NFL’s greatest offensive mind, Andy Reid. It’s not too far-fetched to say that with Andy’s support, the Kansas QB may get to another Super Bowl.
“He’ll [Andy Reid] will try anything at any time,” said Skip, pointing out Reid’s risky strategy. But where does this leave Burrow? Especially after the recent injury he suffered.
Burrow’s Career and Questionable Status
The Chief’s QB has twice as much experience as Burrow, but the Ex-LSU QB doesn’t fall far at all. A comparison of last season’s stats sheds more light on it. Burrow has 4,475 Yards against Mahomes’ 5,250. The numbers from the Bengals QB look promising considering the short career span.
“I’ll take Burrow’s left arm and make him my Quarterback”, said Johnson, who initially set out to defend Patrick Mahomes.

According to a recent development, Burrow got a calf injury and his immediate return remains questionable. The Bengals QB is attending the training sessions though. Chances are high that he’ll return soon.
Burrow, who also made a Super Bowl appearance in the 2021 season, scored 35 touchdowns in 2022. To his advantage, there is not much gap between his and Mahomes’ numbers. Maybe, he stepped into the league as a better player than the Chiefs QB.
