The Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor plans to join the New York Giants for a two-year deal worth $17 million. The contract also includes $8.5 million in guaranteed money. For a talented player like Taylor, it is worth it.

Sources say that the Giants are interested in bringing Taylor on as a backup quarterback for Daniel Jones. The franchise has made it their mission to acquire a veteran backup QB. They have made it clear that the team is giving Jones one more run as the starting quarterback. But having a backup like Taylor would be good news for the Giants.

The New York Giants are heavily reliant on their starting quarterback Daniel Jones. The Giants’ offensive team was in shambles later on in the last season. Jones missed the last six games due to a neck injury.

The Giants want to avoid what happened last season. That is the reason why they were in the market for a veteran backup quarterback. Who better than Tyrod Taylor to fill up those shoes? Taylor joined the Texans in the 2021 offseason. They signed him for a one-year deal worth $12.5 million. He became the starting quarterback at Houston after Deshaun Watson was unable to play due to controversies surrounding him. 

Taylor dominated the Week 1 game, but the quarterback injured his hamstring in the following matchup. It put him on the IR list for several weeks. The athlete missed six games, but he made a comeback during the Week 9 bout with the Miami Dolphins. The quarterback ended that season with 60.7% completed passes for 966 yards along with 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

It seems like the deal between Tyrod Taylor and the New York Giants has been made official. The quarterback recently posted a tweet. He wrote “NYC!!!!!” Tylor has also added “Current New York Giant” to his Twitter bio. It confirms that both sides have agreed upon a deal, and Tylor is the newest backup quarterback for Daniel Jones.

With a talented player like Tyrod Taylor in the back pocket, the Giants can have a sigh of relief. Some pressure will also be taken off for Jones, who is expected to return from injuries in spring.
