Tyreek Hill and Patrick Mahomes together won a Super Bowl title for Kansas City Chiefs. Hill was the QB’s best outlet during the wide receiver’s time at Arrowhead Stadium. And when it is about the QBs of the Chiefs, any list would be incomplete without the mention of the two-time Super Bowl champion. However, it seems Hill’s QBs’ list doesn’t include the present genius of the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes. When asked about the most memorable times with the Reds, Hill didn’t include their star QB in his list.

Hill has fond memories of the franchise he joined as a fifth-round draft pick in 2016. Although he has now left the team for the Miami Dolphins, there is one period in Kansas City that he will never forget.

Tyreek Hill remembered the time he loved the most while playing for the Chiefs in a recent podcast appearance. That was the time Patrick Mahomes was not yet a part of the franchise. Hill said he thinks that his rookie year was his best year in Kansas City because that was a time when he first made a name for himself.

“Definitely my rookie year you know. I feel like that was the first time I really had a chance to make a name for myself obviously. I just feel like the guys I connected with. And just the relationships I was able to build. Then just having that moment on the football field when the fans was going crazy,” Hill said on ‘The Most Offensive’ podcast.

Hill’s rookie year came back in 2016 when the Chiefs drafted the West Alabama utility player as a wide receiver. Mahomes came into the setup a year later in 2017. When the QB became a starter in 2018, the duo lit up the NFL with multiple division titles along with two AFC championships. They also lifted the Vince Lombardi trophy in the 2019 season.

Why did Hill leave the Chiefs?

Hill gave two reasons for his falling out with the franchise that drafted him and had six productive seasons with him. According to Hill, he was mainly frustrated with the lack of targets he got in the latter part of the Chiefs’ career. He said, in an interview with Shannon Sharpe, that he talked to coach Andy Ried about the issue but didn’t get a suitable response. Then came the big contract extension.

The Chiefs wanted to keep their prized Cheetah in Kansas City. Both parties agreed on the amount of annual salary that would make it happen. But Hill wasn’t happy with the guaranteed amount in the contract. The Chiefs traded him to the Miami Dolphins where he has become a prime target in the Mike McDaniel system.

Hill was a vital cog in the Chiefs’ juggernaut, but his departure didn’t affect them much. In fact, Patrick Mahomes and Co. won a Super Bowl the same season. Maybe his departure worked out for the best of everyone involved.
