Philadelphia Eagles will face the New York Giants in a divisional round game this week, and ahead of the match-up, the NY fans have received an opportunity to troll their opponents. The Eagles got accused of cheating during their Week 14 contest. A viral video has spurred a new wave across social media showing Placeholder Arryn Siposs allegedly picking up a foreign object from the turf.

Jalen Hurts and Co. had a spectacular game in Week 14, slaying the Giants by a great margin of 48-22. Although fans rejoiced in securing a win, a snippet went viral accusing the Eagles of a terrible cheating attempt. The management, players, and Siposs have denied such allegations, but netizens kept questioning the credibility of that move.

In the National Football League, foreign objects are strictly banned during the games, and any attempt to encourage such practices is penalized heavily with severe punishments.

In the video, one could see the placeholder Siposs picking up an object after Jake Elliot kicked the ball. Assisting kickers using foreign objects on the field is strictly prohibited, but Elliot clarified the move saying they adhered to the NFL rules.

This incident became a hot topic of discussion as soon as it circulated on social media. Elliot was held responsible to address the issue this week, and subsequently, he gave a brief statement in this regard.

“We’ve always used something that’s within the rules,” Elliott said, per SI. “It’s just literally to mark the spot. It’s part of the playing surface, like a piece of grass or something like that.”

“When we talked to them, we explained what we were doing, and they saw what we were doing. Probably 30 teams do it around the league. It’s just a point of emphasis, and someone makes it bigger than it is. Everything we’ve done has been completely legal.” he added.

Fans criticized Philadelphia Eagles and their bizarre justifications

This season, Elliot had an incredible record completing 20 goals out of 23 attempts. Moreover, his 51 of 53 extra-point attempts remain a highlight in his career. But now, this viral video has raised many eyebrows about the credibility of all these successes.
